Unofficially the king and queen of Braga, they rule with their cool style and easy going personality. Tânia and Rui started their kitchen adventures in 2015 when they opened Retrokitchen, a matchup of their love of eating and everything vintage.
From Retrokitchen you can expect an unpretentious, homey feel restaurant, where the food is great and the environment is amazing. You can find everything typical of a Portuguese house here: a lot of porcelain dogs, sardines and vegetables, the painting “Menino da Lágrima” and the so loved “Abelha Maia” ride.

Não oficialmente o rei e a rainha de Braga, eles governam com o seu estilo cool e personalidade fácil. Tania e Rui começaram as suas aventuras na cozinha em 2015, quando abriram a Retrokitchen, uma combinação do seu amor por comer e por tudo o que é vintage.
Da Retrokitchen podem esperar um restaurante despretensioso, caseiro, onde a comida é ótima e o ambiente é incrível. Podem encontrar tudo o que é típico de uma casa portuguesa: muitos cães de porcelana, sardinhas e legumes, a pintura do “Menino da Lágrima” e a tão amada “Abelha Maia”.

How’s a typical day for you?
Pampering Bolota, grocery shopping, working, walking Bolota, napping, working, in the middle of it we try to fit in time to go play tennis, paddle, to the gym and give love to one another ❤️
Como é um dia normal para vocês?
Dar mimos ao bolota, ir às compras, trabalhar, passear o bolota, sesta, trabalhar, no meio disso tentamos encaixar tempo pra ir ao ténis, padel, ginásio e dar amor um ao outro ❤️

No bullshit.... The people we met here!

You get a lot of artists in the restaurant. Who was your favorite?
It's a tricky question ... the one that stayed with us for being the nicest and having the funniest story was Loyd Cole.
Rui was playing at Latino, where Loyde Cole was and he wrote on his facebook that the DJ he heard was very good.
Some days after, a friend called us to ask, "Do you have a table for one? I have someone here who wants to have dinner there ... " then Loyde Cole arrives and does a fantastic review of the restaurant, also, on his facebook page. GOALS!!
Vocês recebem imensos artistas no restaurante. Quem foi o vosso favorito?
É uma pergunta delicada... mas o artista que mais marcou pela simpatia e por ter uma história super engraçada foi o Loyd Cole.
O Rui estava a por música no Latino, onde estava o Loyde Cole que escreveu no seu facebook que o Dj que ele ouviu era muito bom. Há dias, um amigo ligou-nos a dizer “tens mesa para 1? Tenho aqui uma pessoa que quer jantar aí...” até que chega o Loyde Cole e faz uma review fantástica ao restaurante na página dele. GOALS!!

Why do you think people are so obsessed with food?
People aren’t obsessed with food, because now there are a thousand and one restrictions that each one has. What we value more and more is the time we spend at the table with friends drinking and eating. In Braga, at least, we feel this.
Na vossa opinião, porque é que as pessoas estão tão obcecadas por comida?
s pessoas não estão obcecadas por comida, até porque agora há mil e uma restrições que cada um tem. Todos nós valorizamos cada vez mais o tempo passado à mesa com amigos a beber e a comer. Em Braga, pelo menos, sente-se isso.
What would your perfect vacation look like?
They’ve been already, in Sifnos, a Greek island. We would go back and take our Bolota with us this time ❤️
